OVERVIEW

CAI approached our agency with a unique challenge: they wanted to create a memorable, hands-on experience for visitors at major pharmaceutical exhibitions. They needed to showcase their Digital Twin technology—a system that visualizes, monitors, and optimizes real manufacturing facilities— in a way that was interactive, fast, and engaging. Static booth displays and videos often failed to capture attention or communicate the depth of their technology. They needed something bold, immersive, and fun: a short, game-like experience that would draw people in, spark curiosity, and kick off real conversations.

Our Total Solution

We turned CAI’s digital twin technology into an interactive 3D gamified experience—a “mini factory simulator” that enabled visitors to step into a virtual facility, fix real-world issues, and boost efficiency, all in under a minute.

We blended education, entertainment, and brand storytelling to design and develop a 3D real-time experience that ran smoothly in both large exhibition screens and iPads.

Players interacted with equipment, responded to alerts, and watched their efficiency score climb as they solved challenges.
The experience not only highlighted CAI’s capabilities but also served as a lead-generation tool: players submitted information to join a live leaderboard

Our Approach

PHASE 1

Discovery & Concept

We studied CAI’s target audience, including engineers, operations leaders, and quality managers, and examined the high-traffic environment of the trade shows.
Our primary focus was on simplicity and clarity: the experience needed to explain complex technology through play, not PowerPoint slides.
We brainstormed and prototyped over 10 gameplay ideas, testing what type of challenges engaged people fastest.

PHASE 2

Design & Experience Flow

After multiple iterations, we refined the flow to mirror CAI’s real-world process optimization services:
Players started at the factory dashboard, spotted active alerts, entered the 3D environment, fixed issues with simple taps/swipes, and finally saw their final score.
Each segment was designed for intuitive play. No tutorials, no confusion. Just instant immersion.

PHASE 3

3D Development & Optimization

We recreated a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility using accurate digital twin data and optimized 3D modeling techniques.
Every machine, lighting condition, and animation was tuned to feel authentic yet performant for web browsers.
The experience was built using React + Three.js (R3F), leveraging advanced post-processing, lighting simulation, and real-time score updates.
Sound design played a significant role, adding subtle mechanical and ambient cues to enhance realism and engagement.

The project was launched at ISPE Boston Product Show and ISPE Annual Meeting (Charlotte), instantly standing out among conventional booths. Visitors lined up to play, compete, and share their scores, while CAI’s representatives collected quality leads via the leaderboard system. Engagement tripled compared to previous events, suggesting that gamification can transform complex industrial technology into an accessible, emotional, and memorable experience.
PHASE 4

On-Site Testing & Deployment

Before launch, we tested in real booth environments to ensure it would perform smoothly under exhibition conditions — crowds, limited time, and illumination variation.
In addition, UI readability, motion timing, and hardware compatibility were fine-tuned to ensure a friction-free experience across all setups.

Engagement & Results
